We need a winning run - Boothroyd.

Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd says his side must improve to make a final push for promotion. The U's have taken one point from their last four matches, but remain sixth in League One, with a two point advantage over seventh-place Huddersfield.

"We need to quickly make sure we bounce back and go on a winning run," Boothroyd told BBC Essex.

"It is getting tight [in the play-off places] but I think we have the potential to get automatic promotion."

He added: "In two weeks time, it could be a completely different scenario and we could be pushing.

"However, I don't tend to use words like 'ifs' and 'maybes'. I just get on with what needs to be done."

Boothroyd is now looking for his side to return to winning ways in their next match against Brentford at the Community Stadium on Tuesday.

"This is a big game for us. They've beat us already. We've got to make sure that we make use of our game in hand," he said.

"We've got to put pressure on those below us to win and those above to win, as well."
