Cowling- Canaries have admitted breach

By PA
Thursday, 4th February 2010
Cowling- Canaries have admitted breach.

Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling has claimed that Norwich have admitted to making an illegal approach for manager Paul Lambert in August. The clubs are in dispute over compensation for Lambert, who left the Us to join the Canaries earlier this season. Norwich chairman Alan Bowkett told Wednesday's AGM that the club had made a lawful approach for Lambert and that Cowling was demanding a compensation figure which "bordered on the ridiculous". A Football League disciplinary tribunal is due to meet in March to pass judgment on the case but Cowling told the East Anglia Daily Times: "It surprises me that they are still saying they made a lawful approach because in the latest correspondence between our solicitors they have admitted a breach of the rules. "I don't want to comment on the compensation figures being discussed, but needless to say I disagree that they have been over-generous. "We'll just have to wait and see what the tribunal comes up with. A set of dates are close to being agreed and we should be able to sit down at some time in March."
