Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd has revealed the Referees' Association have apologised to him over a disputed goal.It was claimed Wycombe's late equaliser in a 1-1 draw last month was handled as it went into the net.
Boothroyd told BBC Essex: "Dave Allison from the Referees' Association called me to apologise, but it doesn't give us the extra two points."
The controversial goal was scored by Gareth Ainsworth in the 93th minute.
The manager added: "I appreciate people taking the time to deal with it."
The draw happened on 27 March, during a run of poor results for Colchester which pushed them out of the play-off places.
